Why We Built This Site
Michigan offers several public record channels, yet each answers a different question. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office keeps sheriff reports and county custody information. The countywide 8th District Court and 9th Circuit Court maintain case dockets and court files at the Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center. Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center operates ICHAT for the statewide public criminal-history slice, while the Michigan Department of Corrections runs OTIS for people under its custody or supervision. Michigan PSOR supplies the public registry layer. The county's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative is one local example of police, prosecutor, state, and court records reconnecting across several custodians. This resource brings those distinct routes, costs, forms, and office details into a clearer local framework.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of Kalamazoo County, a Michigan court, a police department, the sheriff’s office, or a state agency. Its role is limited:
- It cannot provide legal advice or apply Michigan law to a particular charge or case
- It cannot issue a certified court document, criminal record, or criminal-history report
- It cannot submit a set-aside application, FOIA request, or other filing for a reader
- It cannot obtain or perform an official criminal-history check for any person
- It cannot promise that an agency’s hours, fees, phone numbers, or procedures have not changed
Only the record holder, such as a Kalamazoo County court, the sheriff, or Michigan State Police, can issue or certify its criminal record. This resource can identify that office, but it cannot supply the official document.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. They control their services, result sets, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports free access to this resource. Kalamazoo County Criminal History does not set the provider’s charges and cannot control the contents or accuracy of its results.
